I am Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology Psychology & Anthropology, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya. I also serve as Co-Field Director of Research, Indiana University-Kenya Program, Eldoret; Founder and Director, AMPATH Qualitative Research Core; Committee member, Africa Ethics Working Group; Co-Chair, Indigenous Populations Working Group, Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases; Member of the National Scientific and Ethics Committee, National Commission for Science Technology and Innovations, Kenya; Committee member, Bioethics Society of Kenya; and Committee member on two Institutional Research and Ethics Committees in Kenya. I hold MA Sociology (Indiana University, USA), MA Medical Anthropology (University of Amsterdam, NL), and PhD in Sociology (Indiana University, USA). I am currently pursuing a Masters in Global Bioethics. My research explores individual and socio-cultural factors around illness, health and healthcare. I am particularly interested in implementation science and passionate about bioethics – especially in the context of African countries. I have been involved in collaborative research work in Eastern Africa, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and South Africa. My work often engages participatory approaches and I have extensive experience designing and implementing qualitative research projects. I have more than 80 academic publications and serve as Editorial Board Member for several international academic journals.
